The virus that causes COVID-19 probably emerged from an animal source, but is now spreading from person to person. The virus is thought to spread mainly between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet) through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. It also may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. The virus that causes COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus that was first identified during an investigation into an outbreak in Wuhan, China.
Given that many of our friends and neighbors have been affected by work slowdowns and layoffs in the last several weeks, I understand the concerns of our team members about our business and – specifically – the Delphi facility.
As a food company, we are part of a critical infrastructure industry within the US economy. We’re working Saturday to help meet the needs of our customers and help keep our supply in balance. As you’ve likely seen if you gone to the grocery, there is strong demand for our product. Were we to shut down operation, we would not only affect our suppliers and customers, ceasing operations would affect the personal finances of our team members.
Having said this, I want to emphasize that what is most important in helping to affect the spread of COVID-19 is to ensure that each of us – every day – are able to come to work & work safely. If you – or a member of your household – are sick & experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19, you need to isolate yourself or family member and contact a medical professional immediately. It’s what we all need to do to ensure the safety of ourselves, our families, and each other.
If you have questions or need additional information, please feel free to contact me (or a member of our HR team), a member of our company’s leadership team, or your immediate supervisor.
Thanks!
Mark Berry, VP, People (HR, Safety, & 1st Aid)
Yes. COVID-19 is spreading from person to person in parts of the world.
Risk of infection from the virus that causes COVID-19 is higher for people who are close contacts of someone known to have COVID-19, for example healthcare workers, or household members. Other people at higher risk for infection are those who live in or have recently been in an area with ongoing spread of COVID-19.
